That the Parliament congratulates Childsmile on the significant achievements of Scotland’s national oral health improvement programme on its 20th anniversary; notes that the Childsmile programme has contributed to halving tooth decay amongst children in Scotland between 2003 and 2020; further notes that the programme has supported a reduction in socio-economic health inequalities; welcomes the multi-faceted, cross-party support that it continues to receive; understands that preventative spending from the Scottish Government of £2 million per year is realising savings of at least £4.7 million, just eight years into the nursery toothbrushing programme, and wishes Childsmile every success in continuing to improve the oral health of Scotland’s children.
