That the Parliament notes reports that energy firms have pulled more than half of their fixed deals from the market in the wake of the Iran conflict; further notes reports that as of 4 March 2026, there are just 17 fixed-deal tariffs available, a reduction of 21 since 1 March 2026; understands that energy industry data specialists, Cornwall Insight, predict the energy price cap to rise by £160 from July; believes that this would completely wipe out the planned 7% reduction in the cap from April; considers that this further demonstrates the UK’s continued exposure to volatile gas prices due to pegging the price of electricity to the price of wholesale gas, and believes that the only way for Scottish consumers to get lower energy bills is for Scotland to have full powers over energy policy, which a fresh start with independence would bring.
