That the Parliament celebrates the unveiling of the statue commemorating the life, achievements and legacy of the legendary footballer, Tommy Gemmell, in Craigneuk, Wishaw, the area where he was born and brought up; acknowledges that Tommy was a member of Celtic’s famous “Lisbon Lions” team that won the European Cup in 1967, with him scoring in the final; recognises the tremendous efforts and kindness of the volunteers, donors and supporters who took part in the fundraising campaign, which was coordinated by the Tommy Gemmell Community Project Committee, and believes that this achievement reflects both Tommy’s profound impact and contributions to sporting history and the generosity of the Craigneuk community.
