That the Parliament congratulates Hugh McCaig on being honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs; recognises that this award is given to individuals who have made an outstanding and lasting contribution to Scottish motorsport, and acknowledges the profound impact that Mr McCaig has had across the sport over several decades; notes that Mr McCaig's passion for motorsport began in childhood, travelling across Europe to attend Grand Prix with his parents, and that his early enthusiasm led him to both kart and car racing; acknowledges his long-standing support for young Scottish drivers, including Alan McNish, David Leslie, Willie Hourie and David Duffield, and the crucial role that he played in nurturing Scottish talent; recognises the pivotal moment in 1982 when, with Ingliston circuit in decline, he assumed responsibility for its running and, over the following decade, revitalised and restored the Scottish club racing scene; commends his leadership as Patron of Ecurie Ecosse, taking the team back into the World Sportscar Championship and Le Mans, including winning the C2 World Championship in 1986, and later guiding Ecurie Ecosse to success in the British Touring Car Championship, first with Vauxhall and subsequently in partnership with RML to deliver title-winning works with the Nissan programme; celebrates his role in returning Ecurie Ecosse to British and European prominence in 2011, and notes the team's continued legacy as it marks the 70th anniversary by competing in the Asian Le Mans Series with Aston Martin; recognises his ongoing efforts to revive Ingliston to its historic status, and his service as former chairman and current president of the Scottish Motor Racing Club, as well as his longstanding role as a director and his active membership of the British Racing Drivers' Club, and his patronage of the Jim Clark Trust; pays tribute to Mr McCaig's remarkable dedication to motorsport, including his unwavering commitment to Scotland's motorsport heritage and future; congratulates him once more on his well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award, and recognises his extraordinary contribution, leadership and enduring influence on Scottish motorsport.
