Commending the Pennypitt Community Development Trust

That the Parliament recognises and commends the work of the Pennypitt Community Development Trust, which is based in Prestonpans, as outlined in its annual report 2024–25; notes the Trust’s long-standing commitment to supporting the communities of Preston, Seton and Gosford, and its expanding reach across East Lothian; acknowledges the vital role that the Trust plays in tackling food insecurity, reducing social isolation, improving health and wellbeing and supporting children, young people and families facing hardship; highlights the impact of its initiatives, including the community food pantry, holiday hunger programmes, community cooking, nutrition projects, befriending services for older people, community sports provision, volunteering opportunities and targeted support within local schools; believes that demand for these services has risen significantly during the cost of living crisis, including a substantial increase in pantry usage; commends the dedication of staff, volunteers and trustees, and the strength of partnership working with East Lothian Council, schools, third sector organisations and local businesses; notes the importance of sustainable and long-term funding for community-led organisations delivering preventative services, and wishes the Pennypitt Community Development Trust every success in continuing its work to build healthier, happier and more resilient communities.
