That the Parliament recognises and pays tribute to the late David Colraine, founding member of Clydebank Asbestos Group (CAG), who sadly passed away on 17 January 2026; understands that David and his friends established CAG in 1992 and that he was central to the group’s achievements in the fight for truth and justice; further understands that David set up the group after seeing a friend and former colleague at John Brown’s shipyard become seriously unwell; notes that CAG is a volunteer organisation that provides support and advice to victims of asbestos and their families, and that in the early days, David and his wife, Jean, kept the group running because of their own generosity, which has helped establish CAG for what it is now; understands that Clydebank has a tragic legacy of asbestos-related illness due to its heavy industrial past; believes that without David establishing CAG, many individuals across Clydebank and further afield, would be far worse off; welcomes that David and the early founders influenced understanding of the consequences of asbestos-related diseases and the legal reforms needed to hold industries responsible; thanks David and other families who have supported debates in the Parliament on this topic; believes that David will be remembered as a driving force behind the pursuit for truth and justice for asbestos victims, and a true giant who’s impact has been felt across Clydebank; thanks him for his immense contribution, and believes his legacy will live on through the work of CAG.
