  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.

  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-20444

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Aberdeen Gift Card has been named the most successful gift card in the UK for the third year in a row, after generating sales of £800,000 in 2025; understands that the gift card, which was first introduced in 2020 by Aberdeen Inspired, has generated £4.7 million in sales since its inception, with additional spending bringing the figure closer to £7.75 million; understands that Miconex, who operate the scheme, reported that Aberdeen’s was the top-selling card in the UK, ahead of schemes in London, Glasgow and Cardiff by a considerable margin; believes that this success highlights the value that the gift card brings to the 300 local businesses that signed up to the scheme, ensuring money is being kept in the local economy, and hopes that the card continues to go from strength to strength for many years to come.
