That the Parliament pays tribute to John Chapman OBE, a highly respected Wishaw businessman and former chairman of Motherwell Football Club; notes that Mr Chapman, who was appointed an OBE in the 1992 New Year Honours for services to the Scottish meat trade, was a stalwart of his family’s butcher business, Chapman's Butchers, and served as president of the Scottish Craft Butchers Association in 1981-82; recognises his outstanding contribution to Motherwell FC, having joined the executive board in 1981, serving as chairman from 1987 and overseeing a period of success that included the club’s 1991 Scottish Cup victory; notes what it sees as his visionary plans to improve Fir Park for supporters by converting outdated terracing into all-seater stands; acknowledges the esteem in which he was held, being appointed honorary life president upon stepping down in 1997, and extends its sincerest condolences to his son Jamie, daughter Deirdre and all of his family and friends during this difficult time, while honouring his enduring legacy in business, sport and the wider community.
