That the Parliament expresses its sincere thanks to the farmers, council workers, volunteers and neighbours across Banffshire and Buchan Coast, the wider north east, and the Highlands who have gone above and beyond during the recent spell of severe winter weather in January 2026; recognises that days of heavy snowfall and extreme conditions caused significant disruption to travel, services and daily life; pays tribute to the farmers who used their own tractors and equipment to help clear roads, enabling access for emergency services and vital supplies; acknowledges the dedication of local authority staff who worked tirelessly to keep roads, footpaths and essential services operating in exceptionally challenging circumstances; commends the countless acts of kindness shown by volunteers and residents who checked in on vulnerable neighbours, collected shopping, delivered supplies and offered practical support; gives particular thanks to Fubar News and its team, which worked around the clock to provide up-to-date, accurate and accessible information, delivering a vital public service during the worst of the conditions, alongside community-led information channels for their exemplary service; recognises the important role that STV News at Six (North) has played in keeping the public informed with timely and accurate updates on weather warnings, road closures, travel disruption and available support, and believes that this period has demonstrated the vital importance of trusted local media alongside the strength, compassion and resilience of communities in times of adversity.
