As an amendment to motion S6M-20074 in the name of John Mason (Support for Girlguiding Policy that Excludes Biological Males from Joining), leave out from "affirms" to end and insert "regrets that there is a lack of universal guidance for public bodies and private organisations to assist them in interpreting the complex legal landscape of equalities legislation with regards to the transgender community; considers that decisions being made by governing bodies are not universally consistent or supported by all members of those organisations; notes with concern reports of draft Equality and Human Rights Commission guidance, which suggest that individuals may be excluded from single-sex spaces based solely on their appearance; regrets what it sees as inferences that the simple presence of a transgender person presents an intrinsic universal risk to others; believes that there is an urgent need for the UK Government to publish updated, clear and workable guidance that both complies with domestic legislation and respects internationally recognised human rights standards to which the UK is party; expresses regret at what it sees as the ongoing and increasing exclusion of transgender individuals from everyday life activities that they were previously able to enjoy peacefully and safely, and which the rest of the population often takes for granted, and calls on politicians to be mindful of the tone and language used when discussing a marginalised community that, it considers, already faces substantial abuse and attack, and which deserves access to the most basic of human services and facilities, like anyone else in society."
