  • Motion reference: S6M-19679

That the Parliament commends the exceptional work of Kids Operating Room (KidsOR), a Scottish global health charity dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to safe surgery; notes that since its founding in 2018, KidsOR has installed over 100 paediatric operating rooms across 36 countries, enabling hundreds of thousands of life-saving operations annually; further acknowledges its recent humanitarian mission in Ukraine, where the charity completed the installation of six solar-powered paediatric operating rooms at a major hospital in western Ukraine; understands that these new facilities will allow more than 12,000 additional operations each year for children displaced or injured by the ongoing conflict, providing vital care under the constant threat of attack; recognises the leadership and vision of its co-founders, Garreth and Nicola Wood, who live in Gifford, East Lothian, and whose commitment to tackling what it sees as one of the most underfunded gaps in global health, has transformed surgical care for children worldwide; congratulates them on their achievements and humanitarian efforts, and wishes KidsOR continued success in its mission to give every child a fairer start in life.
