The Football Association of Ireland's Stance on Palestine

  • Submitted by: James Dornan, Glasgow Cathcart, Scottish National Party
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 13 November 2025
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-19638
  • Current status: Fallen

That the Parliament recognises the motion submitted by the Dublin-based League of Ireland club, Bohemian, members of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), that would mandate the FAI to submit a motion to the UEFA to ban Israel from UEFA’s club and international competitions on the grounds that the Israeli Football Association (IFA) has reportedly violated two UEFA statutes, organising clubs in occupied Palestinian territories without the consent of the Palestinian Football Association, and the alleged failure of the IFA to enforce an effective anti-racism policy; recognises the vote taken by the members of the FAI and urges UEFA to enact the ban expeditiously, and presses the SFA to follow the example of the FAI, the Norwegian Football Association and the Turkish Football Federation in supporting this ban immediately to stand in solidarity with Palestine and demonstrate what it considers is Scotland’s revulsion to Israel’s state-sponsored policy of genocide.
