That the Parliament congratulates J & P Contracts (Angus) Limited, which trades as J & P Metal Technologies and is based in Carnoustie, on its recent investment in a state-of-the-art laser cutting facility, as part of its ongoing commitment to upgrading its manufacturing facility and capacity to deliver high-quality fabricated components; notes that the company, which was established in 1973 as a subcontract manufacturer of sheet metal and medium-weight fabrications in both ferrous and non-ferrous metals in the UK, is proudly owned and operated by Ronald and Susan Smith, with Ron, who has been involved since the company’s inception, continuing to play an active role at the age of 78, alongside his son, Ewan, daughter, Karen, and son-in-law, Jon, all of whom hold key roles in the business; recognises that this investment was made possible through a grant application covering half of the project’s total cost from Scottish Enterprise and a low-cost business loan from the Michelin Development Fund; commends the company’s commitment to adopting new technology to provide cost-effective, high-quality components while also helping address the decline in engineering skills and supporting the future of Scotland’s valued engineering sector, and wishes J & P Metal Technologies every success in its continued efforts to sustain and grow manufacturing in Scotland.
