That the Parliament congratulates a small family butcher in Newton Stewart that has just been crowned Scotland’s best traditional steak pie maker at the 2025 Scottish Craft Butchers Awards; notes that owner Steven Cronnie and his family have always considered their meaty delight as truly upper crust compared to the rest and decided to put it to the test for the first time, beating nearly 100 other entries across Scotland to take the coveted title; recognises that Steven, his wife Shirley and teen apprentice son Liam launched the business in 2020 after 19 years in the trade; acknowledges that the rural business is expecting a boost in steak pie sales in the wake of its national win, having earlier lifted the South West regional championship title to progress into the final; believes that the reason for its success lies with the fact it uses the finest beef, which is sourced locally, before cooking it long and slowly in small batches, and wishes the family business continued success as it aims to encourage more people to use their local high street for their food.
