Led By Donkeys Arrests

  • Submitted by: James Dornan, Glasgow Cathcart, Scottish National Party
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 25 September 2025
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-18960
  • Current status: Fallen

That the Parliament notes reports that four members of the Led By Donkeys campaign group were arrested by the Metropolitan Police for projecting images of the US President, Donald Trump, with the convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, and of Epstein with Prince Andrew; recognises that decisions of this nature are a matter for the Metropolitan Police, but considers that this incident highlights wider concerns about restrictions on political expression, including opposition to what it considers are the genocidal actions of the State of Israel in Gaza and criticism of prominent political figures; notes the importance of upholding the right to peaceful protest and free expression in a democratic society, and believes that Police Scotland must deal with any such political activism in a manner that is fair, proportionate, reasonable and fully compliant with the law.
