That the Parliament congratulates Alloa Bowmar Pipe Band on reaching its 50th anniversary in 2025, which it will mark with a celebration at the Dunmar Hotel on 11 October 2025; understands that the band was formed in 1975 from a chanter and piping class at the Bowmar Centre in Alloa under the leadership of founding Pipe Major Gordon Simpson, and that, in the intervening 50 years, only three further Pipe Majors have taken the reins, a testament to the commitment of its members; commends the band for its role as a proud cultural ambassador for Clackmannanshire, having performed not only at local events, including galas and the annual Alloa Remembrance Day Parade, but also internationally, with engagements in Germany, New York, Egypt, and most recently the United Arab Emirates; acknowledges what it sees as the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, when restrictions limited practice and member numbers fell, yet recognises the resilience of the band, which continues to thrive with around 20 members today, and celebrates the contribution of the Alloa Bowmar Pipe Band to the musical life and community spirit of Clackmannanshire over the past five decades.
