That the Parliament expresses its sorrow at the death of Frank Strang, entrepreneur and CEO of SaxaVord Spaceport in Unst, Shetland; understands that the SaxaVord site in Unst is a former RAF base and notes that Mr Strang was a former RAF officer; further understands that Mr Strang advocated for the use of the SaxaVord site as a spaceport over many years and worked to turn this vision into a reality; pays tribute to Mr Strang’s dedication and determination regarding the creation of the spaceport; believes that Mr Strang’s vision for a vertical launch spaceport in Shetland has been instrumental in developing the emerging space sector in Scotland and the UK; recognises the success of the SaxaVord Spaceport, which became the first fully licensed vertical launch spaceport in Europe; believes that Mr Strang’s passing is a loss to the space sector and Shetland community, and expresses its deepest condolences to Mr Strang’s family, friends and colleagues.
