That the Parliament welcomes the UK Government's reported announcement that it will procure 12 F-35 A fighter jets; notes the flexibility of this aircraft to carry conventional and nuclear weapons as part of the NATO airborne nuclear mission; understands that these jets will be based at RAF Marham in Norfolk, but encourages the UK Government to explore the possibility of procuring further F-35 jets to be based in Scotland, where there is a wealth of nuclear weapons experience; considers that these jets, their nuclear payload and the Trident nuclear deterrent help make the world a safer place and maintain peace, and commends the RAF, its officers and its airmen for their continued service to the UK.
