Motion of Condolence, Ross Dougal

That the Parliament notes with sadness the passing of Ross Dougal, a lifelong servant and advocate of Scotland’s fishing industry, who passed away at the age of 73; recognises Ross’s outstanding contribution over many decades through his work with the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation (SFF), where he held every senior non-executive office from 2011 to 2025, including terms as vice-president, president and chairman of both SFF Services Ltd and Marine Environmental Solutions Ltd; acknowledges his additional roles as chair of the Scottish Fishermen’s Trust, a trustee of the Scottish Fisheries Museum, and vice-patron of the Fishermen’s Mission, demonstrating his deep and unwavering commitment to the fishing sector and its communities; pays tribute to his years of service with Denholm Fishselling and his leadership within the Fishing Vessel Agents and Owners Association, and offers its sincere condolences to Ross’s family, friends and all in the industry who mourn the loss of a man remembered not only for his leadership and dedication but for his good humour and warmth in service to Scotland’s fishing heritage.
