That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the valuable and important work undertaken by Reach Advocacy, a lived experience and grassroots charity based in Coatbridge; understands that its human rights-based advocacy training is the only fully accredited human rights advocacy training programme in Scotland and is held in high regard by a broad range of third sector and public bodies; believes that the charity’s work in delivering this training plays a vital role in ensuring that some of Scotland’s most vulnerable individuals and communities receive the highest standard of advocacy, grounded in a human rights approach; considers that this support helps individuals to rebuild their lives and, in doing so, contributes to significant public sector savings, noting reports that for every £1 invested in advocacy, £7 can be saved by the NHS and £5 by local authorities, and calls on the Scottish Government and all relevant partners to provide as much support as possible to Reach Advocacy to enable it to continue its important work across Scotland.
