That the Parliament welcomes the Diving for Peace initiative, which has been developed by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) and the National Paralympic Committee of Cyprus, which will take place on 20 September 2025 in Limassol; understands that Diving for Peace aims to promote peace, inclusion, environmental awareness, and equal access to sport, by bringing together Paralympic athletes from across Europe and the Middle East, and that the initiative is said to symbolise unity through action; notes that the event in September will include a peace dive and sea-cleaning initiative, with athletes from across Europe and divers from Cypriot armed and emergency services, which will signify the universal values of freedom, equality and environmental respect; recognises that Fraser Bathgate, of PADI Worldwide, has played a key role in transforming the discipline of diving for disabled people, and will attend Diving for Peace in Cyprus; notes that the event in September will conclude with a gala dinner, with dignitaries from sports authorities, Paralympic committees, world governments and others to promote unity, resilience and inclusion of diving as a sport and discipline; commends PADI and the National Paralympic Committee of Cyprus for promoting Diving for Peace internationally, and wishes Fraser, and all involved, the very best for the event.
