  • Submitted by: Emma Roddick, Highlands and Islands, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 12 June 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17946

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Tomb of the Eagles, also known as the Isbister chambered cairn, is on track to reopen to the public after local campaigners secured a National Lottery Heritage Fund award; celebrates the work of South Ronaldsay and Burray Development Trust in securing Scottish Land Fund investment for the project; recognises the community’s desire to improve the visitor offer by upgrading the visitor centre, renovating the museum displays and toilet facilities, as well as upgrading the surrounding paths; notes the work of the current owners, the Simison Partnership, in supporting the community acquisition, and hopes that the planned reopening of the Tomb of the Eagles is a success and that the site remains open to the public for many years to come.
