Rosslyn Chapel Restoration Works Completed

  • Submitted by: Colin Beattie, Midlothian North and Musselburgh, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 21 February 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-16541

That the Parliament congratulates Rosslyn Chapel Trust on completing major restoration and repair works at Rosslyn Chapel; notes that the £4 million project re-roofed the great hall and tower, to conserve and consolidate the castle's stonework, in addition to developing a sustainable heating strategy; understands that Rosslyn Castle's East Range now has a permanent roof over the great hall and tower for the first time since 1650, when the Castle was partially destroyed by Cromwell's troops; further understands that the entire building is now net zero-ready, after six air-source heat pumps were installed, and commends the work of the Rosslyn Chapel Trust and everyone involved.
