Peterhead Scottish Week

  • Submitted by: Karen Adam, Banffshire and Buchan Coast, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 25 July 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13950

That the Parliament thanks the committed community champions whose hard work and dedication makes the Peterhead Scottish Week such a successful and much-loved event on Scotland's social calendar since 1962; notes that Scottish Week launched in 1962 with 10 towns across Scotland hosting week-long celebrations of Scotland, its people and its culture; further notes that the only town to continuously hold a Scottish Week celebration every year since 1962 is the Banffshire and Buchan Coast town of Peterhead, whose community spirit and pride in Scotland has seen the family-friendly celebration grow to what it has become today, a much-loved family tradition for the people of Peterhead, welcoming visitors from near and far to enjoy the very best of Scottish hospitality; wishes the dedicated volunteers success in the years to come, and encourages local communities across Scotland to celebrate Scotland in what it considers to be all of its glorious diversity.
