  • Motion reference: S6M-13390

That the Parliament congratulates the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal on its forthcoming 100th consecutive donation, totalling £300,000 over 21 years, ahead of Scotland playing Gibraltar on 3 June 2024; understands that the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal is an established charity, funded by Scotland fans, the aim of which is to make a donation to identified children’s charities in every country in which the Scottish national football team plays matches; acknowledges that this has been uninterrupted since 2003; believes that, since its first donation in Lithuania, this group of Scotland fans has helped to relieve the poverty, advance the education and promote the welfare of children in need, in the countries that they visit to watch Scotland's national football team play, in such ways as are charitable in law; recognises that for the 100th donation in Gibraltar, they will be donating to the Saffron Rose 4 Rett Charitable Trust, which was set up by six volunteers to raise awareness of the debilitating illness, Rett Syndrome, which is a rare genetic neurological and developmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops; notes that, while the game is being played in Faro in Portugal, chair of the appeal, Neil Forbes, will fly out to Gibraltar to undertake the presentation ahead of travelling to Faro, and wishes everyone involved with the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal all the best in their future endeavours.
