Welcoming New PCS General Secretary, Fran Heathcote

That the Parliament congratulates Fran Heathcote on her election as general secretary of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union to take over from Mark Serwotka who is retiring; notes that this historic result means that Fran Heathcote is the first woman general secretary in the 130-year history of PCS and its predecessor unions; welcomes Fran's commitment to fighting for better pay and conditions for civil servants in the face of the cost of living crisis; recognises what it sees as the importance of the PCS union in representing the interests of civil servants; acknowledges what it considers to be the significant contributions of Mark Serwotka to the PCS union over the past 23 years, and wishes him well in his retirement.
