10-year Anniversary of the Glasgow Helicopter Crash

  • Submitted by: Kaukab Stewart, Glasgow Kelvin, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 10 November 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-11178

That the Parliament understands that 29 November 2023 is the 10-year anniversary of the helicopter crash at The Clutha bar in Glasgow city centre; recalls that, on the evening of 29 November 2013, three crew members and seven patrons of The Clutha were tragically killed, with a further 31 people injured after a police helicopter, EC135, crashed into The Clutha; commends the work and bravery of emergency services on the scene, which involved 125 firefighters, more than 25 ambulances, and two Special Operations Response Teams; notes that the subsequent air accident investigation led to the Civil Aviation Authority mandating police helicopters be fitted with additional safety measures; understands that, 600 days after the crash, The Clutha reopened its doors in July 2015, and expresses its continued sympathy for all those who were impacted by the events that took place on 29 November 2013.
