Kirkcaldy’s Ian Ogilvie Recognised for 60 Years of Service as Local Church Organist

  • Submitted by: David Torrance, Kirkcaldy, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 25 August 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10201

That the Parliament recognises Ian Ogilvie, from Kirkcaldy, who is celebrating 60 years of service as a church pipe organ player; understands that Ian has been a familiar figure at several churches throughout Kirkcaldy over the last six decades, with this commitment marked with the presentation of a certificate of long service; notes that, while studying the organ at Dunfermline Abbey in 1963, Ian started his playing career as organist in the EU Congregational Church before taking up the post of organist and choirmaster at Sinclairtown Church, later becoming Viewforth Parish Church, and, in 1988, moved to the Kirkcaldy Old Kirk, remaining there until 2001, when he took up his current role at Linktown Church; thanks Ian for his service to his craft, and wishes him all the best for the future.
