  • Submitted by: Edward Mountain, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 02 June 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-09202

That the Parliament recognises the commitment made by the Secretary of State for Scotland, Alister Jack, to invest £157,000 in Inverness Caledonian Thistle Community Development to upgrade the pitches at the former Inverness Royal Academy playing fields; considers that these were passed over by the Highland Council in September 2022 as part of a community asset transfer; notes reports that, during a recent visit to Inverness to meet with members of the Inverness Caledonian Thistle's women's team to discuss the allocation of money for the upgrades to their grounds, the Secretary of State said "We have seen some fantastic results in recent years from Scotland’s men’s and women’s football teams and we know much of this is a result of the hard work and dedication put in by those working in grassroots football" and that "I am pleased the UK Government is working closely with the SFA and providing funding for high quality facilities in Scotland"; understands that, during his recent visit to Inverness, the Secretary of State also committed investment into 22 other sports sites across Scotland, and wishes Inverness Caledonian Thistle Community Development the best of luck in the upcoming renovations of their community pitches.
