Poppy Scotland Reveals the New Paper Poppy

  • Submitted by: Meghan Gallacher, Central Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 25 April 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08642

That the Parliament congratulates Poppy Scotland for creating and revealing its new paper poppy; understands that it has been developed over the last three years in collaboration with experts and partners to reduce single-use plastic; further understands that this new economical and sustainable poppy is made of red and green paper, which has been produced from a blend of renewable fibres from responsible resources, 50% of which has been recovered from the waste generated in the production of coffee cups, making them fully recyclable at home; notes that these will be available from October for the 2023 Scottish Poppy Appeal, and encourages everyone to buy a poppy to support this excellent charity, which supports members of the Armed Forces community.
