That the Parliament applauds the efforts of the local community to save the Bucksburn Swimming Pool; recognises the substantial community efforts in fundraising for the swimming pool in the late 1960s through to the 1980s, and therefore the significance of this swimming pool for the community; notes the essential functions this pool provides for all ages, in providing swimming lessons and various forms of exercise in lane swimming and aqua-aerobics classes, improving physical and mental health and providing a social centre; congratulates the Save the Bucksburn Pool campaign for its rally on 19 March 2023; notes that Aberdeen City Council plans to host a meeting in the near future, where members of the public will be able to express their opinions on the planned closure, and calls on Aberdeen City Council to reconsider its decision to close the Bucksburn Swimming Pool, using all means necessary to reverse the reduction in funding, which, it believes, will have a detrimental impact on Aberdeen’s communities.
