  • Date lodged: Monday, 23 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07564

That the Parliament recognises the breadth of talent of students studying Music and Music Business at New College Lanarkshire (NCL); understands that Scottish musician, Lewis Capaldi, global superstar and former NCL student, has invited vocalist Broghan Showell, drummer Ryan Fyffe, keyboardist and backing vocalist Lauren Kelly, guitarist Connor Frame and bass guitarist Rhys Walker, to support him on his latest tour at a Glasgow Hydro show on 24 January 2023; further understands that Mr Capaldi was previously given the same opportunity as a student by multi-platinum solo artist, Sandi Thom, and this helped launched his music career; commends NCL lecturers for their dedication to their students, Lewis Capaldi for his efforts to support and empower music students in Scotland, and all the students at NCL, and wishes the performers the best of luck at the Hydro show and all students the very best for their future endeavours.
