That the Parliament congratulates Shetland-based project, Bressay Community Woodland, for winning the Forest and Woodland Award at the 2022 RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards; understands that the Bressay Community Woodland project aims to recreate Shetland’s once common scrub woodland by planting 3,000 trees of species historically native to Shetland and, in so doing, provide a place for both long-term biodiversity and for recreation and education; further understands that Bressay Community Woodland is part of Bressay Development Ltd, a community-led organisation on the island of Bressay, which also runs the Speldiburn Café, and Good As New Shop along with artist studios and art gallery; considers that the recognition of the project by the RSPB demonstrates the unique potential of the woodland recreation project to contribute to increased biodiversity and outdoor education opportunities; commends all volunteers and staff for their work on the Bressay Community Woodland project, and wishes all at Bressay Development Ltd well.
