That the Parliament commends Derek Montgomery of Craigens, Cumnock, as he embarks on his tenth London Marathon, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support; understands that the race will take place on 2 October 2022 and is a challenging 26.2 miles long; further understands that Derek also took on the challenge in 2021, and that he has already been offered a place in the 2023 marathon; believes that Derek’s fundraising began back in 2011, on the back of taking up jogging as a hobby; understands that Derek lost his father and brother to the disease and that his fundraising efforts have helped ease the pain of their passing; recognises his hard work over the years that has seen him raise an impressive £47,000 for charity; understands that Derek has received support locally, and sponsorship for his race from local family business W & E Lammie Groundswork; further understands that Derek has so far raised 62% of his £2,000 target for the marathon; applauds Derek for his fundraising efforts, and wishes him the very best in the upcoming marathon.
