The Role of Community Pharmacies in Scotland

  • Submitted by: Foysol Choudhury, Lothian, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 26 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06026

That the Parliament highlights what it sees as the role of community pharmacies in Scotland’s system of primary healthcare; understands that the Pharmacy First scheme allows people registered with a GP to gain advice and treatment for a range of minor illnesses from their pharmacist; encourages people to give consideration to their community pharmacy as their first port of call for minor ailments; believes that this could allow patients to be seen more quickly and effectively for minor ailments and take pressure off GP services, and expresses its thanks to community pharmacy workers for their hard work.
