  • Submitted by: David Torrance, Kirkcaldy, Scottish National Party
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 19 July 2022
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S6M-05443
  • Current status: Fallen

That the Parliament congratulates Burntisland Harbour Access Trust on its recent successful application in registering a community interest for the land in and around Burntisland harbour; understands that the community now has first refusal on both the Forth Ports and Network Rail areas of the East Dock; acknowledges the trust for retaining community access to the East Dock breakwater, western peninsula (Shanks Pier) and the north quay; understands that any sale of the East Dock to any other party is now blocked and may open the way to a compulsory purchase, and commends the people of Burntisland for their passion and dedication to save what it believes is an important space that contributes to local health and well-being as well an important area for many outdoor pursuits such as dog walking, rambling, fishing, bird watching, and water sports.
