  • Submitted by: Neil Bibby, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 June 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04709

That the Parliament congratulates Kilbarchan Pipe Band on its victory in the Grade 4B category at the 2022 British Pipe Band Championships; understands that the competition was held on 21 May 2022 at Battery Park, between Greenock and Gourock in Inverclyde; notes that Kilbarchan emerged victorious out of 15 bands from across the UK that competed in the category; understands that around 30 members of the band played a set of four marches together for the competition, and were assessed by judges on their technical abilities as well as their overall performance; further understands that this is the band’s first major championship win since it was reformed just over 20 years ago; notes that the band meets on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Scout Hall, Barn Green, Kilbarchan and provides practice sessions as well as tuition for less-experienced players, and wishes all members and leaders of the band the very best wishes for the future, and every success in the upcoming UK Pipe Band Championships, European Pipe Band Championships, Scottish and World Championships.
