Simpson Brothers Win National Sport Award

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 17 May 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04417

That the Parliament congratulates Andrew and Neil Simpson who have been announced as the winners of the Sport award at The Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2022; understands that they were recognised for their historic achievement in becoming the first British men ever to win gold on snow at this year’s Winter Paralympics; further understands that in winning the visually impaired super-G Alpine skiing they became only Great Britain’s third-ever Winter Paralympic gold medallists, and commends what it sees as their dedication to their sport, and the inspiration it believes that their success will provide to many throughout the country and that this award rightfully recognises.
