  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 18 May 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04348

That the Parliament congratulates Ranveer Singh, from Newmains, on the publication of Patshahi Mehima - Revisiting Sikh Sovereignty; understands that this is Ranveer’s second publication and that it has been hailed by academics across the globe, taking him seven years to complete, writing it in his spare time between working in Edinburgh and raising his young family; further understands that Ranveer’s book details the history of the Sikh religion, takes as a starting point the 1984 attack on the Sri Darbar Sahib, which it understands is the holiest site for Sikhs located in Amritsar, and goes on to explore the 550 years of history, including what is considered as Britain’s controversial role in the country, and wishes Ranveer every success with his new novel, which he is currently writing.
