Taking Scotland Forward – Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform: Amendment 2

  • Submitted by: Mike Rumbles, North East Scotland, Scottish Liberal Democrats
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 31 May 2016
  • Motion type: Amendment
  • Motion reference: S5M-00226.2

As an amendment to motion S5M-00226 in the name of Roseanna Cunningham (Taking Scotland Forward – Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform), leave out from “believes” to end and insert “notes that, despite missing its statutory annual climate change targets four years running, the Scottish Government chose to cut the climate change budget by 10% and the fuel poverty budget by 13% for 2016-17; considers that, if Scotland is to meet its climate ambitions, then it will require additional investment in warmer homes and low-carbon transport, a shift to clean, green renewable energy and new action to protect the natural environment, and believes that such initiatives and 21st century infrastructure will enable Scotland to beat its climate targets, improve people’s quality of life and strengthen the economy."
