The Role of the Public Sector: Amendment 1

  • Submitted by: Patrick Harvie, Glasgow, Scottish Green Party
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 16 November 2011
  • Motion type: Amendment
  • Motion reference: S4M-01348.1

As an amendment to motion S4M-01348 in the name of Mary Scanlon (The Role of the Public Sector), leave out from “accepts” to end and insert "notes that most public sector pensioners have pensions of less than £5,000; considers that all employees, in both the private and the public sector, should be entitled to high quality pension provision; condemns the UK Government’s assault on public sector pay and pensions, which is being carried out in the name of a discredited and deeply harmful austerity programme, and offers its unequivocal support to the trades unions taking strike action on 30 November 2011 and the STUC’s Better Way campaign, which it considers represents a progressive response to the economic crisis."
