Chamber and committees

In line with the requirements of Section 16 of the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010, the Scottish Government discloses to the Scottish Parliament the number and total cost of employing special advisers on an annual basis. The latest report, pertaining to the financial year 2025-26, was published on 7 July 2026. I refer the member to the answer to question S7W-01557 on 7 July 2026. I had a meeting with the Chair of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Board on 4 June 2026.

This question relates to operational matters that are the responsibility of the Scottish Court and Tribunals Service (SCTS) corporate body. The question has been passed to the Chief Executive of the SCTS who reply in writing within 20 days.

The Scottish Government has not provided any funding for the provision of a landing slot from Dundee Airport to any London airport.

Any changes in slot provision at slot constrained airports are a matter for the airlines involved. The Scottish Government was not consulted about any changes and has no information on whether any revenue was generated as a result of any changes.

I have portfolio responsibility for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. I have not yet had the opportunity to meet with the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) but as a key stakeholder a meeting with FBU Scottish officials will be scheduled in due course.

We are engaging constructively with all relevant stakeholders to support considered and informed discussion on this policy, and to ensure effective implementation that delivers on our core aim of making the weekly shop more affordable.

The cost of employing Special Advisers during 2026-27, including pay band information, will be published in line with the requirements of the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010.

Helping people with the cost of living is a top priority of this government and we will be taking forward consultation on this policy within the first 100 days. Issues will be considered as part of the policy development process, informed by engagement and consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
