To ask the Scottish Government what information it has regarding how many music festivals take place across the country each year.
Answer
The Scottish Government does not hold or compile information regarding the total number of music festivals taking place in Scotland each year.
VisitScotland’s Events Directorate, EventScotland support a very small number of the music festivals each year through their National and Beacon event funding programmes. In 2018-19 nine festivals were supported through this route and eight festivals will receive Event Scotland support in 2019-20. Creative Scotland also supported around 30 music festival events in 2019-20.

To ask the Scottish Government what plans ScotRail has to improve parking at Bathgate railway station.
Answer
ScotRail has paused any future car parking development at Bathgate railway station to allow for the joint establishment of an industry wide strategic review of the car parks which serve Scotland’s railway.
This will enable a more strategic overview to be achieved for Bathgate railway station, taking account of all key issues and future policy decisions including the consideration of active travel options. This includes taking cognisance of ongoing development of the STPR2 (Strategic Transport Projects Review 2).

To ask the Scottish Government what (a) plans and (b) funding ScotRail has to improve parking at railway stations.
Answer
Under the current Franchise Agreement, ScotRail is committed to fund and deliver 600 new car park spaces across the rail network in Scotland by 31 st March 2020. Subject to obtaining third party funding, ScotRail is also committed to facilitating a further 400 spaces. Already ScotRail has delivered 287 spaces with a further 151 in the delivery phase.
A Joint Working Group with representation from Transport Scotland, ScotRail and Network Rail is being established to oversee the strategy which will allow the industry to inform future car parking investment. The group will engage with key stakeholders e.g. Regional Transport Partnerships and Local Authorities to ensure best value for investment in the long term whilst considering active travel options alongside provision for cars.
