To ask the Scottish Government what assessment it has made of the start-up costs of independence.
Answer
The Scottish Government has undertaken a range of work to prepare for the transition to independence and our approach is set out in Chapter 10 of Scotland’s Future. This explains that a number of factors will influence the size of the one-off investment that Scotland will make in the transition to independence, which includes the negotiations that will take place between the two governments.

To ask the Scottish Government what it is doing to support speech and language therapy.
Answer
The Scottish Government recognises the important contribution speech and language therapists and other allied health professionals (AHP) make to the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland.
The National Delivery Plan for the Allied Health Professions in Scotland, 2012-2015 provides a strategic platform for all AHP activity and highlights the importance of supporting children with communication difficulties to access the curriculum and to achieve their full potential through partnership approaches and creative working across agencies.
The national delivery plan also sets our out commitment to the development of a transformational children and young people’s AHP service plan linked to the Early Years Collaborative to meet the evolving needs of children and families due to be published at the end of 2014.
