Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Executive whether it considers that the Rural Direct service, run by the Crofters Commission and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, has been a success and whether it intends to continue to fund this service for the duration of the Scotland Rural Development Programme.

To ask the Scottish Executive when it will publish the results of its first stage consultation on banning electric shock training devices in Scotland; when the second stage of the consultation will be issued; whether it will make a ministerial statement on the issue, and when it is likely that the Executive will bring forward regulations under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 to ban the sale and use of electric shock collars and similar animal training devices.
