To ask the Scottish Government what discussions it has had with (a) the UK Government and (b) nature conservation agencies regarding the completion of the 2019 National Seabird Census, and whether it considers this work an essential prerequisite of the Seabird Conservation Strategy that was announced in its Programme for Government.
Answer
There has been no discussions with the UK Government or Nature Conservation Agencies regarding completion of the seabird census. The results of the census will provide a welcome update to national population statistics, and will provide important context. However it is not an essential prerequisite of the proposed Seabird Conservation Strategy.
