To ask the Scottish Executive how many road traffic accidents occurred with injury (a) in total and (b) per 100,000 head of population in each year since 1999, calculated on the same basis as the World Health Organization's European health for all database.
Answer
The numbers of road traffic accidents in which one or more people were injured which were reported by the police for each year appear in Table 7.1 of
Scottish Transport Statistics No. 23: 2004 Edition, copies of which are available in the Parliament's Reference Centre (Bib. number 33706).
The numbers of such accidents per 100,000 population in each year since 1999 are given in the table below.
