To ask the Scottish Executive when it will publish legal advice that it has received on the possibility of implementing a service charge for EU students studying at Scottish institutions.
Answer
It is not the practice of this or any previous Scottish Government to reveal either whether it has received legal advice on a particular matter or, if it has, the content of any such advice.

To ask the Scottish Executive what modern languages will be offered in schools under its proposals to introduce a scheme for modern language learning based on the EU 2+1 model.
Answer
We will work with local authorities, schools, parents and learners, to develop a new languages model that will increase the opportunities for young people to benefit from learning two additional languages and to develop the confidence and skills that they need to be successful in an increasingly globalised world. This model will have flexibility to enable local authorities and schools to agree the nature and content of language provision for the children and young people in their area, but it is envisaged that languages available would include both European and Asian languages.

To ask the Scottish Executive how many Scottish students dropped out of Scottish universities in each of the last four years, broken down by year of degree.
Answer
The information requested is not held centrally. The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) publishes non-continuation rates for higher education institutions in the UK as part of their performance indicators. These performance indicators examine non-continuation after the first year of degree courses for all entrants to Scottish institutions. The HESA performance indicators can be found at:
