Information on the number of crimes recorded by the police is reported on an annual basis and it is not possible to provide information on a monthly basis. This data is returned in an aggregate format containing no information on individuals, meaning we cannot provide any information relating to age.

The following table shows the number of crimes of being drunk and disorderly for each of the Lothians regions and Scotland for financial year 2007-08. This is the latest year for which published information is available.

The Student Loans Company (SLC) cannot distinguish whether a student enters repayment of their loan because they have graduated or because they have left higher education (HE) without graduating. The table below therefore shows the average student loan debt for Scottish domiciled full-time higher education leavers from institutions in the Lothians Scottish parliamentary region. The figures do not include debt added by the graduate endowment fee. On average around two thirds of students who were liable for the graduate endowment fee would add all or part of their fee to these figures.

There are seven higher education institutions in the Lothians region (including the Scottish campus of Open University) and six Scottish colleges, detailed below.

Information on graduate destinations 12 months after graduating is not held centrally.

Information on graduate destinations six months after graduating from Scottish colleges is only available for those who studied full-time courses. No information is collected on whether employment is full-time or part-time. The table below shows the proportion of graduates in any type of employment.

The Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland (GERS) publication, published in June 2008, contains three estimates of the public expenditure to GDP ratio for Scotland in 2006-07. The estimates are 49.9% GDP excluding North Sea revenue, 48.8% GDP if a per capita share of North Sea revenue is included or 41.3% GDP when a geographical share of North Sea revenue is included.

The Economic Pocket Databank presents the latest information on the performance of the Scottish economy, along with a selection of comparator economies. Statistics on Scottish public expenditure as a percentage of GDP are released separately in the Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland publication.

Figures for driving convictions involving drugs alone are not available. For data on drink/drug driving offences I refer the member to the answer to question S3W-19666 on 22 January 2009. Repeat offenders contains everyone whose most recent conviction in 2006-07 was not the only one of this type they had committed in the last 10 years.
