To ask the Scottish Executive whether it considers that the delay in appointing a full board of directors at NHS Ayrshire and Arran is affecting its corporate governance.
Answer
All NHS boards are expected to have robust governance arrangements in place through their relevant committee structures. This ensures that they have accurate and timely information available to enable constructive challenge and scrutiny.
The delay in appointing Non Executive Directors is not affecting the governance of NHS Ayrshire and Arran. The vacancies on the board are expected to be filled shortly [during June 2012].
